Rising Sea Level
One major climate change induced impact affecting Lokoja Kogi State, Nigeria is rise in sea level during the rainy seasons which is caused by reduced season and increased rainfall amount. This issue present various challenges for the people living in the community including flooding of the communities which renders the people homeless, properties are destroyed, farmlands are flooded and their livelihood is generally affected. The community is finding it hard to adapt to these challenges, although few of the people living close to the riverbank have made efforts to move away but a lot more people and farmlands are still at risk.

It is crucial for people to understand how dangerous floods can be to their lives and property if no preventive measures are taken. The public, together with authorities, can help fight and prevent these impacts through proper resource allocation and effective policy-making.
