India is prone to earthquakes, Urban heat island phenomenon, landslides and flood. The southern part of India is largely affected by flood and cyclone while the Northeastern parts are vulnerable to seismic activities. All the communities whether rural or urban are affected by the phenomenon. Some methods used are: Early Disaster Warning Systems Agroforestry and Miyawaki method to beat the Urban heat island phenomenon. Sustainable ground water management and rainwater harvesting systems. Government Initiatives: 1. National disaster response fund 2. Mobile applications like Flood watch, Mausam etc. provide real-time, actionable alerts to citizens and farmers, enhancing community readiness.  3. Trauma and Critical Care Centres 4. Community initiative like Apathmitra and similar community-based disaster risk management.
