Crafting SMART Objectives for the people in northern Bangladesh experiencing frequent flooding, damaging h

Step 1: General Adaptation Goal

Strengthen the resilience of rural communities in flood prone areas of northern Bangladesh to reduce damage to homes, crops, and livelihoods caused by frequent flooding.

Step 2: SMART Objective

SMART Objective: Implement community based flood preparedness measures in five flood prone villages in northern Bangladesh by June 2027, including the construction of 20 raised flood resistant storage structures for crops and the training of at least 100 households on flood preparedness and crop protection techniques, with progress monitored through community training records and infrastructure completion reports.

Explanation of SMART criteria

Specific: focuses on building flood resilient storage structures and training households.

Measurable: number of villages, households trained, and storage structures built can be tracked.

Achievable: uses community level training and small scale infrastructure suitable for limited government resources.

Relevant: directly addresses the main climate risk in the scenario, which is frequent flooding affecting crops and homes.

Time bound: completion is set for June 2027.
