Intuition Behind Stakeholder Mapping
Stakeholder mapping helps us understand who is involved in a project and how much power and interest each group has. In many projects, government agencies and funding organizations have the most influence because they control money, policies, and approvals. However, the local community usually benefits the most from the project, even though they may not have strong decision-making power.
NGOs and researchers also support the project by providing funding, training, and technical knowledge. One important issue is power imbalance, where some groups, especially vulnerable community members, may not have a strong voice. If their opinions are ignored, the project may not succeed in the long term.
In conclusion, stakeholder mapping shows that projects work best when powerful stakeholders are managed properly and local communities are included in decision-making. Thus, allowing room for all voices and all parties even the lower communities.
