Drought-resilient crops in Kenya

One aspect of coming up with climate-resilient systems as heralded by the Kenyan government has been the development and deployment of drought-resilient varieties of commonly-grown plants. In my experience (which apparently cannot be said to be wide in this area) has been that these crops don't always live up to be as drought-resilient as announced. Most of the times, yields end up being poor in the presence of little rain during the planting season. I might be wrong, and if so, I welcome any corrections.
