Reviving Tribal Communities through LLA
Adivasis (Tribal communities) hold a huge legacy in shaping the history of Kerala. They are one of the oldest dwellers of Kerala and play a crucial role in maintaining the equilibrium of ecosystems. Most of the adivasi communities are now restricted to highlands, close to dense mountain forests of Western Ghats. Living close to nature for centuries, these communities have passed down indigenous knowledge systems through generations that have ensured their survival in the forests. However, with the rising impact of climate change and extreme weather events combined with negligence from the govt, these communities are forced to choose between death and survival. Heavy rainfall and landslides are a major threat for the tribal people of Kerala. Traditional knowledge systems coupled with govt support can go a long way in uplifting these communities. It is imperative that the tribal heritage of Kerala be preserved, as it has shaped our history since its birth.
