Flood in the Northeast Community of Nigeria e.g. Madagali LGA

The 2023 Flood affected community like Shuwa in Madagali LGA where massive destruction to life, properties and livestock left majority of the community displaces because their home was damage, sources of water supply was contaminated by the flood with runoff into open well and death animals everywhere exposing the health of the community to high risk or waterborne diseases such cholera, typhoid and the rest. More so, farmlands were and their produce were all lost to the great effects of the flood and the vulnerability was very high and people were taking shelter in government facilities such schools, local government secretariat building and children's stop going to school due to the effect of the disaster. Protection and dignity of the people were compromised, gender-based violence were on the high and privacy of the women and girl's child were dissatisfied and famine struck due to limited food availability for families to survived on, daily livelihood is uncertainty but with the help of some international NGO and the government that came to their rescue with distribution of food item and non-food items to the community such grains and oil, water trucking, bedding and shelter rehabilitating kits, hope and life were brought back. Advocacy and awareness were raised by NGOs, government agency like SEMA for planting of tress and building embankment at the river shoreline because there were water body proximately to the community and their houses which were below the water level, and those advisories were put to action for further occurrence any eventuality.
