Model Response

Step 1 — General Adaptation Goal

Improve the resilience of rural households to recurring floods in northern Bangladesh.

Step 2 — SMART Objective

“By December 2027, construct and elevate 120 flood-resilient homes and rehabilitate 200 acres of flood-damaged cropland using climate-smart agriculture practices in the target community of northern Bangladesh.”

This meets SMART criteria:

  • Specific: elevated homes + climate-smart agriculture rehabilitation

  • Measurable: 120 homes, 200 acres

  • Achievable: fits limited-resource context via targeted scope

  • Relevant: directly addresses flooding impacts on homes and crops

  • Time-bound: deadline of December 2027

Sample Peer Feedback

You can comment like this:

  • Your objective is clear and relevant to flooding.

  • To improve it, consider adding numbers (how many households, fields, systems?).

  • You may also add a deadline to make it fully time-bound.

  • Think about whether the goal is achievable given limited local resources.

Or:

  • The objective aligns well with the climate risk.

  • You could strengthen it by specifying who will implement the activity (community, NGOs, local government).
