The strongest approach is a four-pillar strategy:

  1. Demonstrate ecological value (A).

  2. Build collective power (B).

  3. Signal economic trade-offs strategically (C).

  4. Anchor demands in climate justice and loss & damage (D).

However, ethical integrity is crucial. Unlike a purely transactional approach, the strategy must:

  • Protect Indigenous and local communities.

  • Maintain transparency.

  • Avoid signaling that could irreversibly harm ecosystems.

In short, leverage natural capital—but pair it with governance credibility, regional solidarity, and a justice-based narrative. That combination maximizes climate finance access while staying aligned with long-term sustainability principles.
