Too much rain and for long periods in South Africa

Hi everyone, my name is Magauta Lillian Lenong, from South Africa, we have been experience too many unprecedented rain for long periods. As a farmer myself, I once lost crop produce as it could not be harvested due to too much rain and it rooted. I think we should invest in precision farming. I had we done this we would be able to determine the rain patterns and good time for us to harvest before the non stop rain. Problem is this is too expensive

Climate Change induced impact affecting my community is drought. My community has experienced drought more frequently over the past few years affecting food production. This has worsened poverty levels in the community. This development has forced people to change their ways of life e.g. surviving of other foods e.g. wild fruits.

To mitigate the challenge, the government has been providing agricultural inputs to help community members. There has also been a shift from the traditional crops to drought tolerant crops. People are being encouraged to start planting early maturity and drought tolerant crops due to shrinking rain pattern.
