Flood (Weather Fluctuation)

In India, floods are a major climate-related hazard, especially affecting farmers in states like Assam, Bihar, and Haryana. Climate change has increased irregular rainfall and extreme weather events, damaging crops, soil, livestock, and livelihoods. Small farmers are the most affected because they depend heavily on seasonal agriculture and often lack financial security. Similar to the Philippines mangrove case, local communities use traditional coping methods such as raised storage, crop diversification, and community support systems. The government and NGOs also provide flood warnings, compensation schemes, relief camps, and climate-resilient farming support, although many rural communities still face challenges in accessing long-term protection and recovery resources.
