  1. General Adaptation Goal Strengthen community capacity to reduce the impact of floods in Northern Bangladesh

  2. Smart Objective

Equip and Train 50 volunteers to implement an economically feasible flood early warning and household preparedness program at the Community in question by June 2027, ensuring that at least 80% of households receive basic preparedness training and flood alerts before peak monsoon season.

  3. Why this is Smart

    (I) Specific: Focusses on volunteer training and early warning preparation.

(ll) Measurable: 50 Volunteers, 80% households coverage.

(lll) Achievable: Relies on Community mobilization.

(IV) Relevant: Reoccurring flood damage to homes and agriculture is directly addressed.

    (V) Time-bound: June 2027 is set for completion.

Overall Assessment

This is a strong SMART objective because it is:

  • Largely specific

  • Quantifiable

  • Time-bound

  • Clearly aligned with flood risk

However, it could be improved by:

  • Clarifying feasibility under limited government resources.

  • Defining key terms (economically feasible, basic preparedness training).

  • Adding slightly more precision on measurement and operational readiness.

If refined slightly, it would fully meet SMART criteria at a high standard.
