Unsustainable Water Supply Due to Declining of Water Levels in Dams
Malawi is experiencing frequent intermittent water supply due to low levels of water in major dams which is affecting public health in the urban and periuban areas which rely on waterboards. The declining levels of water in dams is as aresult of extreme weather conditions like prolonged dry periods, reduced rainfall etc which is excarbated by human activities i.e deforestation. There are frequent outbreaks of cholera which is as aresult of consumption of contaminated water from alternative contaminated sources. To adapt , the government is encouraging reaforastration at the community by and national level. At the same time ground water is used as alternative water sources by the waterboards.Households are practicing water reuse and using water efficient technologies like showers etc
