Climate change in Binga, Northern part of Zimbabwe

Binga is a marginalised community found in the Northern part of Zimbabwe 🇿🇼. The economic activity of this region is sustainable agriculture and fishing in some of the parts. Climate change has been one of the pressing issue affecting the region. Water scarcity and food insecurity has become their major challenges. Boreholes have dried up and some Wells too. People now travel very long distances to fetch water for own consumption . Prolonged droughts and and heatwaves affects them the most. Families now end up marrying their daughters early in exchange of bride price so that they can sustain their life. Cases of Gender based violence have become common and cases of drug and substance abuse has become common amongst the youths due to poverty and unemployment. Climate change have exacerbated the challenges of economic instability
