Localized impacts of climate change

  • What is a climate change-induced impact that you observe or know to be affecting your local community? 

The extreme weather conditions such is very high temperature in summers, very low temperature in winters, heavy rainfall in sort duration leading to flooding and low rainy days leading to droughts and crop damage

  • What specific challenges does this issue present for your community members, infrastructure, or way of life?

    It is impacting the way of life and quality of life both at community level. Heavy rains in urban areas leading to flash floods, people coping capacity is limited, hence loss of human life and resources. Unplanned urbanization is also led to increased disasters as the natural drainage systems is blocked by unauthorized constructions resulting in flooding and impacting public health.

  • How has your community adapted or responded (or is responding) to these challenges so far? Think about local initiatives, government actions, community efforts, or even individual changes.

    Civil societies and government are promoting awareness generation towards the climate change, developing adaptation and mitigation plans, early warning and early action plans for reducing the risk of disaster and loss of life.
